Film Screening: Liquor Store Dreams
Tuesday, April 23 | Reception at 5:00 p.m. | Film Screening and Discussion 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
The CMA and South Carolina ETV and Public Radio team up for a screening of Liquor Store Dreams. In this 2022 documentary, two Korean American children of liquor store owners reconcile their own dreams with those of their immigrant parents. They confront the complex legacies of L.A.'s racial landscape — including the 1991 murder of Latasha Harlins and the 1992 uprisings sparked by the police beating of Rodney King — while engaged in current struggles for social and economic justice.
