Saturday
October 8, 2022
10:00 am-1:00 pm
Meet CMA affinity group the Friends of African American Art & Culture (FAAAC) on Boyd Plaza for artistic expression and cultural enrichment inspired by the upcoming exhibition The Art of Elizabeth Catlett: From the Collection of Samella Lewis. Experience a live painting demonstration by Damion Johnson, artist teacher at Berkeley Center for the Arts. In his present work, Johnson employs what he has coined “the capturing of what is felt ideal” wherein song lyrics, phrases, and emotions are transformed into visual statements. Come and see what visual statement the energy on Boyd Plaza will evoke! While watching the demonstration, color illustrations by local and national artists Ija Monet, Isaac Udogwu, and Johnson and groove to the FAAAC’s playlist of favorites. Learn more about the FAAAC and upcoming programming. Museum and FAAAC memberships can be purchased and renewed onsite. Free.
