10:00 am-1:00 pm
Meet CMA affinity group the Friends of African American Art & Culture (FAAAC) on Boyd Plaza for artistic expression and cultural enrichment inspired by the upcoming exhibition The Art of Elizabeth Catlett: From the Collection of Samella Lewis. Experience a live demonstration of throwing and sculpting by potter Diane Davis of the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Davis' pottery can be described as functional with a primitive organic quality, or as she refers to her style, "mud in the moment." While watching the demonstration, color illustrations by local and national artists Ija Monet, Isaac Udogwu, and Damion Johnson and groove to the FAAAC’s playlist of favorites. Learn more about the FAAAC and upcoming programming. Museum and FAAAC memberships can be purchased and renewed onsite.
