It’s the 1980s, and the Soviet Union is teetering on the edge of transition. Let’s go underground with panelists Irina Nakhova, an artist whose work is featured in The Ironic Curtain exhibition; Dr. Elena Osokina, internationally published and esteemed professor of Russian history at UofSC; and Dr. Gordon Smith, distinguished professor emeritus in the political science department at UofSC. Enjoy a lively and candid conversation about life under Soviet government control with particular emphasis on issues of personal and artistic freedom. Moderated by Joel Samuels, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and director of the Rule of Law Collaborative at UofSC.
