During the 12th century, Venetians began celebrating Carnevale, a farewell to meat, between Christmas and Ash Wednesday. People wore elaborate masks to protect their anonymity when the party got out of hand. Mardi Gras, French for Fat Tuesday, signaled the end of these wild days. Join fellow reveler and docent John Tomashek as we take the party to the CMA collection galleries for a grand unmasking! Focal Points is a series of gallery talks featuring topics and themes near and dear to the hearts of tour guides and staff.
