Brad Collins Pop Art Lecture and Book SigningFriday, June 28NoonBrad Collins Pop Art Lecture and Book Signing
Join USC art history professor Brad Collins for a lecture on his new book Pop Art: The Independent Group to Neo Pop, 1952-1990. Collins discusses the long-standing argument about whether Pop was for or against popular culture. He believes Pop artists were using the materials of popular culture for a wide variety of personal reasons, similar to the way earlier artists used mythology or the Bible. Collins specializes in contemporary American art with a special focus on Pop Art and Andy Warhol. A book signing follows the lecture. Books are available for purchase in the Museum Shop.
