Painting the Figure in Oils
Learn how to use gesture, anatomy, proportion, comparative measurements, value, shape, and tone to paint a realistic figure in oils from the live model. Week one includes exercises to develop an understanding of various techniques and their application to the figure. During week two, students work from a single sustained pose by the nude model to develop a fully rendered figure painting.

Instructor
Award-winning artist Letitia "Tish" Lowe trained at the Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. She specializes in portrait, still life, and figurative oil paintings in classic realist style. This workshop is suitable for advanced or beginning painters.

Minimum age 18.

The renowned countertenor leads a stripped-down band in a performance of lovely originals and interpretations of durable standards.

This is an all ages event. Upon exit, there will be no re-entry into the event for those under 21 years old. No backpacks or outside food or drink will be allowed in the CMA. Cash bar.

Following the runaway success of the first joint venture last summer, a sold-out performance by probing Armenian pianist, Sergei Babayan, the Southeastern Piano Festival and Columbia Museum of Art are thrilled to join forces again to present pianist Alexander Korsantia. Winner of major competitions, Georgian born pianist is celebrated for combining moments of stupendous power and utmost tenderness with intensity and sensitivity afforded only to the highest echelon of pianists. The Boston Globe found his interpretation of Pictures at an Exhibition to be "a performance that could annihilate all other one has heard."

Ink wash is a drawing technique that has evolved into a practical illustration technique. Students in this workshop discover how ink wash is similar to watercolor paint and learn necessary techniques to create ink wash drawings.

Instructor:
Tonya Gregg received a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Chicago and a Master of Community Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art.

This workshop is suitable for beginner and intermediate students. Students are encouraged to bring drawings or images to translate.

All supplies included.
