Europe and the United States witnessed the rise of a kind of pastoral landscape painting in the 19th century that is nicely exemplified by "The River Bank" by Albert Fitch Bellows. Dr. Brad Collins discusses the larger meanings of this tradition in the context of the spread of industrialism and the growth of the modern city. The lecture is an invitation for the public to support him and his wife, Stacey, in their fundraising effort to Be the Curator!
