In celebration of the major museum exhibition, Impressionism from Monet to Matisse, nearly 1,000 leading community patrons will experience the excitement and romance of an iconic Parisian experience, and be captivated in the joie de vivre.

Wee Wednesdays: Monet and Me 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Travel through the colorful landscapes in Impressionism from Monet to Matisse and create a landscape overflowing with color. Participants (ages 2-5) and their adult companions explore art through the introduction of elementary art terms such as color, line, shape and texture during the Wee Wednesday series. This program includes story time and a creative studio activity related to the art exploration theme.

Film: Chagall Noon
Completed just a month after his death in 1985, this film presents the most authoritative film biography of artist Marc Chagall. Weaving his paintings with archival footage and numerous interviews with the artist, it chronicles the long, creative arc of Chagall's life, from his birth in Czarist Russia in 1887 through almost the entirety of the 20th century. A natural Surrealist long before its theory was established, Chagall passed in and out of notoriety, both in Paris and New York. As this film shows, despite his friendship with Andre Breton and other greats, Chagall pursued his own unique artistic vision. 43 minutes.

One Room School House: Luminous LandscapesMorning: 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Afternoon: 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.
Students travel through the exhibition, Impressionism from Monet to Matisse, learning about landscapes, color and light. In the studio, students use what they learned to make luscious and colorful landscapes. This program is designed especially for home-school children (ages 4 and up) and their parents.

The Club Théâtre of the Alliance Française of Columbia performs sketches and short plays in the French language and inspired by the exhibition, Impressionism from Monet to Matisse.

Art Class: Learn to Print in a Day: Monotypes 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Monotype is a great way to learn about printmaking. This versatile medium has a painterly quality and is quite immediate. Students will be introduced to registration, printing in layers and using a press!
Students (ages 16+) learn to make monotypes, a single print from a metal or glass plate on which an image has been painted. This technique has been favored by artists since the 17th century and was explored by Rembrandt, Picasso, Matisse, Degas, Chagall and Gauguin. Painter and printmaker Claire Farrell received her training from Duke University, the University of South Carolina, Santa Raparata Art School in Florence, Italy, and Penland School of Craft and Design. She also studied extensively with Ron Pokrasso, a master printmaker and teacher from Santa Fe, NM. All supplies included.

Get inspired by the exhibition, Impressionism from Monet to Matisse, and create a water-filled landscapes during this FREE monthly open studio program for families. Enjoy a family tour at 1:00 p.m. or take a self-guided tour of the CMA.
Pay-What-You-Wish-DayNoon - 5:00 pm
Celebrate Impressionism from Monet to Matisse with Pay-What-You-Wish admission for a day of tours, hands-on learning and a French performance. Visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour at anytime during the afternoon with activity-filled gallery backpacks for kids and a TAP multimedia tour for adults.
Pay-What-You-Wish admission allows visitors to pay any amount to see the exhibition, Impressionism from Monet to Matisse and participate in any the following programs. Admission to this exhibition is regularly $15 for adults.

Families create their own water-filled landscapes with watercolors and crayons based on the swirly skies and misty oceans seen in the paintings by Monet and Renoir.
Guided Family Tour | 1:00 p.m.
Be inspired by the magnificent 56 works in the exhibition, Impressionism from Monet to Matisse. This 45-minute guided and interactive tour explores the world of art in a way that can be enjoyed by all family members. Discover the CMA in a new way and learn how to talk about art with your children.
Performance: Alliance Française | 2:00 p.m.
The Club Théåtre of the Alliance Française de Columbia returns to the CMA for its 7th annual French-language theatre production. Celebrating the exhibition, Impressionism from Monet to Matisse, the troupe is collaborating on its own original comic play, Tableaux vivants, tableaux parlants, inspired by and featuring paintings in the collection by Cassatt, Forain, Cals, Chagall and La Touche. The 17-member Club Théåtre is an all-volunteer amateur theatre troupe made up of French-speaking members of the Columbia community from France, Belgium, Cameroon, Russia, Venezuela and the United States. Presented in the French language.

Learn about the successful inaugural year of the CMA membership affiliate group, Friends of African American Art and Culture (FAAAC) and gain insight on future initiatives and goals. Featured speaker, Dr. Terry K. Hunter from Orangeburg, has significantly influenced the South Carolina arts landscape as an artist and educator. He discusses his recent work "The Grid Turns the Corner," a mid-career retrospective of his drawings and prints.
